This article tells you how to remove <strong>Edit with Photos<\/strong> from the right-click menu.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/edit-with-photos-context-menu.png\" alt=\"&quot;edit with photos&quot; context menu\" width=\"750\" height=\"328\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-76957\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Remove Edit with Photos right-click menu option<\/h2>\n<h3>Method 1: Using the Registry Editor<\/h3>\n<p>To remove &#8220;Edit with Photos&#8221; from the context menu, use this registry edit:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the Registry Editor window, go to the following key:\n<pre>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Shell Extensions<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Create a subkey named &#8220;<strong>Blocked<\/strong>&#8221; if it doesn&#8217;t already exist.<\/li>\n<li>With the &#8220;Blocked&#8221; key selected, create a string value (REG_SZ) named <code><strong>{BFE0E2A4-C70C-4AD7-AC3D-10D1ECEBB5B4}<\/strong><\/code><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-76958\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/remove-edit-with-photos-registry.png\" alt=\"remove &quot;edit with photos&quot; via the registry\" width=\"751\" height=\"202\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Exit the Registry Editor.<\/li>\n<li>Log off and log back in for the change to take effect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Edit with Photos<\/strong> entry should now be gone.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Method 2: Using command-line<\/h3>\n<p>To remove <strong>Edit with Photos<\/strong> using command-line, open a Command Prompt window and run this command:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">reg add \"HKCU\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Shell Extensions\\Blocked\" \/v {BFE0E2A4-C70C-4AD7-AC3D-10D1ECEBB5B4} \/f<\/pre>\n<p>Log off and login back in for the changes to take effect.<\/p>\n<p>To reverse the above setting (i.e., to add &#8220;Edit with Photos&#8221; back), run this command:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">reg delete \"HKCU\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Shell Extensions\\Blocked\" \/v {BFE0E2A4-C70C-4AD7-AC3D-10D1ECEBB5B4} \/f<\/pre>\n<p>Log off and login back in for the changes to take effect.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Last tested with the Photos app version 2024.11100.16009.0.)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For image files, the entry Edit with Photos option appears in the right-click menu.
