{"id":5425,"date":"2017-09-20T21:46:36","date_gmt":"2017-09-20T16:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/198.58.113.91\/blog\/?p=5425"},"modified":"2019-05-12T02:52:14","modified_gmt":"2019-05-12T02:52:14","slug":"windows-update-error-80240037-windows-7-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-update-error-80240037-windows-7-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Windows Update Error 80240037 in New Windows 7 and 8.1 Computers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;ve just bought a new computer loaded with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 with one of the Processors (CPU) mentioned below, note that Microsoft Updates will not be available for your system.<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Intel seventh (7th)-generation &#8220;Intel Core&#8221; processor or a later generation<\/li>\n<li>\nAMD seventh (7th)-generation (\u201cBristol Ridge&#8221;) processor or a later generation<\/li>\n<li>\nQualcomm \u201c8996&#8243; processor or a later generation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In Windows 7 and 8.1 systems having the above CPU, when you use Windows Update, the following message will appear.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>Unsupported hardware<\/strong>\r\n\r\nYour PC uses a processor that is designed for the latest version of Windows.\r\nBecause the processor is not supported together with the Windows version that you are currently using, your system will miss important security updates.\r\n<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/wu-windows7-new-cpu.png\" alt=\"windows update error 80240037 \" width=\"650\" height=\"427\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5426\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the following error message will be shown.<\/p>\n<pre>\r\nWindows could not search for new updates\r\nAn error occurred while checking for new updates for your computer.\r\nError(s) found:\r\nCode 80240037 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Because of how this support policy is implemented, devices that run the following Windows versions and that have a seventh generation or later generation processor may no longer be able to scan or download updates through Windows Update or Microsoft Update:<\/p>\n<p>Windows Server 2012 R2<br \/>\nWindows 8.1<br \/>\nWindows Server 2008 R2<br \/>\nWindows 7<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-in\/help\/4012982\/the-processor-is-not-supported-together-with-the-windows-version-that\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recommends<\/a> that you upgrade Windows Server 2012 R2-based and Windows Server 2008 R2-based computers to Windows Server 2016, and Windows 8.1-based and Window 7-based computers to Windows 10 if those computers have a processor that is from any of the above generations.<\/p>\n<h3>Bypass Microsoft&#8217;s Windows Update Block for Windows 7\/8.1 for 7th Generation CPU<\/h3>\n<div class=\"qt\">\nA developer has posted a method in <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/zeffy\/wufuc\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">his GitHub page<\/a> to bypass the update block by Microsoft. It&#8217;s supposed to disable the &#8220;Unsupported Hardware&#8221; message in Windows Update allowing you to continue installing updates on Windows 7 and 8.1 systems with Intel Kaby Lake, AMD Ryzen, or other unsupported processors. I haven&#8217;t tested it personally.
