But, when you cannot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/create-restore-protection-point-rollback-windows\/\">revert the system configuration<\/a> from normal mode, you can perform System Restore rollback offline via Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), or from Safe Mode.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This post tells you how to revert the system configuration by rolling back to an earlier restore point in offline mode &#8212; via System Recovery Options or Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE). Windows Recovery Environment loads a very minimal set of drivers wherein restore point rollbacks can be more successful, as no 3rd party programs or drivers are loaded in the Recovery Environment.<\/p>\n<h2>Rollback via System Recovery Options (Windows RE)<\/h2>\n<p>Press <kbd>Win<\/kbd>\u00a0+ <kbd>X<\/kbd> to open the Power User menu. Click Shut down or sign out, press and hold the SHIFT key and click Restart. You can also open Settings (<kbd>WinKey<\/kbd> + <kbd>i<\/kbd>), click Update and Security, Recovery, and the Restart Now button under Advanced Startup.<\/p>\n<p>Or, from the login screen, you can also press and hold <kbd>SHIFT<\/kbd>, and restart Windows. This gets you to Recovery Options.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5290\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/system-restore-offline-0.png\" alt=\"perform system restore rollback offline in windows 10\" width=\"700\" height=\"234\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>If Windows doesn\u2019t start, then boot the system using your Windows installation media to access the Recovery Options. Or you may use the Recovery drive if you\u2019ve created one already. If System Restore is being run in Safe mode or from the System Recovery Options menu, it cannot be undone.<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/system-restore-offline-10.png\" alt=\"Perform System Restore Rollback Offline\" width=\"699\" height=\"189\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If rollback were successful, you&#8217;d see the following message:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5301\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/system-restore-offline-11.png\" alt=\"Perform System Restore Rollback Offline\" width=\"699\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\">System Restore completed successfully. The system has been restored to [date\/time]. Your documents have not been affected.
