But, you may be wondering why letter &#8220;<kbd>o<\/kbd>&#8221; becomes the Properties shortcut key in some systems.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/properties-accelerator-uk-keyboard-1.png\" alt=\"properties accelerator language pack\" width=\"670\" height=\"536\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5237\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This might be a language pack <a href=\"https:\/\/answers.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/forum\/windows_8-files\/shortcut-key-for-properties-from-right-click-menu\/6e25c1d0-37a8-43f3-98f7-d03fdac8d910\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bug<\/a> rather than intentional, and is only seen in computers where &#8220;English (United Kingdom)&#8221; is set as the default Windows display language during installation or changed later via Region &amp; Language settings.<\/p>\n<p>To set &#8220;r&#8221; as the shortcut for Properties in the right-click menu, add the language &#8220;English (United States)&#8221; and set it as the default. Note that simply changing the language via the notification icon may not help.<\/p>\n<p>1. Open Settings, click Time &amp; Language<\/p>\n<p>2. Select Region &amp; language<\/p>\n<p>3. Click Add a language<\/p>\n<p>4. Select English, and then click &#8220;English (United States)&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>5. Select English (United States), and click Set as default<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/properties-accelerator-uk-keyboard-2.png\" alt=\"properties accelerator language pack\" width=\"705\" height=\"427\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5236\" \/><\/p>\n<p>6. Logoff and login back.<\/p>\n<h4>Using Control Panel<\/h4>\n<p>You can also use the &#8220;Language&#8221; applet in the classic Control Panel and change the default display language.<\/p>\n<p>Add English (United States). In the Settings UI in Windows 10, the option is available as &#8220;Enable shortcut underlines&#8221; under Ease of Access &gt; Keyboard.
