The status bar doesn&#8217;t appear even if you turn off the address bar in Regedit. Another change is that you can modify the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/change-regedit-font-face-windows-10\/\">default font face, weight and style<\/a> in the new the Registry Editor.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/registry-editor-gets-address-bar-feature-windows-10\/<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/regedit-address-bar.png\" alt=\"regedit address bar windows 10\" width=\"650\" height=\"208\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4309\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not a fan of the new Registry Editor (Regedit.exe), perhaps for the sole reason that it <strong>doesn&#8217;t have a status bar<\/strong>, you can get a copy of the old Regedit.exe from a computer running Windows 10 Anniversary Update, or from the ISO.<\/p>\n<h2>Get Old Regedit.exe in Windows 10 Creators Update<\/h2>\n<p>Here is how to replace the new Regedit.exe with the older (v1607 &#8212; Build 14393) version.<\/p>\n<p>1. Download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/old_regedit.zip\">old_regedit.zip<\/a> which encloses the four files namely regedit_old.exe, regedit_old.exe.mui, replace.reg and undo.reg.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/get-old-regedit-0.png\" alt=\"old regedit in windows 10 creators update\" width=\"676\" height=\"172\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5145\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. Copy regedit_old.exe to C:\\Windows. Copy regedit_old.exe.mui to C:\\Windows\\en-us. Click Continue when asked for confirmation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/get-old-regedit-4.png\" alt=\"old regedit in windows 10 creators update\" width=\"675\" height=\"278\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5148\" \/><\/p>\n<p>4. Optionally, to replace the Regedit.exe application path to point to the older version, run the file replace.reg. So when you start the Registry Editor by typing <code>regedit.exe<\/code> in Run dialog, the old Regedit launches.<\/p>\n<p>The registry file updates the Regedit.exe app paths in this registry key:<\/p>\n<pre>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\App Paths\\regedit.exe<\/pre>\n<p>And sets the (default) value data to <code>C:\\Windows\\Regedit_old.exe<\/code><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/get-old-regedit-3.png\" alt=\"old regedit in windows 10 creators update\" width=\"675\" height=\"162\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5147\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To reverse the changes made by the REG file, run the file named &#8220;Undo.reg&#8221; enclosed in the zip file.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll see the yellow UAC dialog even though the older Regedit.exe (which is now Regedit_old.exe) is a signed Microsoft file.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/get-old-regedit-5.png\" alt=\"old regedit in windows 10 creators update\" width=\"459\" height=\"348\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5146\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Windows 10 Creators Update, the Registry Editor status bar has been removed, as it now has an address bar at the top.
