The leaked build also happens to be the Enterprise Edition of Windows 10. So, at this point, it&#8217;s unclear if other lower editions will get the feature to pause updates or not.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Pause Windows Updates in Windows 10<\/h2>\n<p>Here is how you pause Windows Update for up to 35 days in Windows 10.<\/p>\n<p>1. Login to an account with administrative privileges<\/p>\n<p>2. Click Start, Settings (or press <kbd>WinKey<\/kbd> + <kbd>i<\/kbd>)<\/p>\n<p>3. Click Update &amp; security.<\/p>\n<p>4. Select &#8220;Windows Update&#8221;, and click &#8220;Advanced options&#8221; under Update settings.<\/p>\n<p>5. Turn on the <strong>Pause updates<\/strong> setting.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5012\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5012\" style=\"width: 677px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/pause-updates-windows-10.png\" alt=\"Pause updates in Windows 10\" width=\"687\" height=\"633\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5012\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5012\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pause updates in Windows 10<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Windows Defender definition updates are not affected by this setting, and they will continue to be installed.<\/p>\n<p>When you turn off the &#8220;Pause updates&#8221; setting, updates are resumed, and the system checks for updates to keep your system current with the latest security and quality updates before you can pause updates again.<\/p>\n<p><em>There is also a &#8220;Defer feature updates&#8221; (Defer upgrades) setting available in some Windows 10 editions.
