Additionally, it contains the component-based servicing stack (CBS), which is a key underlying component for several elements of Windows deployment, such as:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DISM<\/li>\n<li>SFC<\/li>\n<li>Changing Windows features or roles<\/li>\n<li>Repairing components<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Microsoft releases Servicing Stack Updates (SSU) which provide fixes to the servicing stack. Servicing stack updates improve the reliability of the update process to mitigate potential issues while installing the latest quality updates and feature updates. If you don&#8217;t install the latest servicing stack update, there&#8217;s a risk that your device can&#8217;t be updated with the latest Microsoft security fixes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If the servicing stack is corrupt, servicing the computer is not possible; DISM\/SFC won&#8217;t work, and you&#8217;ll be unable to add or remove Windows Features. Also, a repair installation using the Media Creation Tool or the ISO may fail if the servicing stack is corrupt.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rp\"><strong>EXAMPLE &#8211; Servicing Stack issue:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/error-0x800703e6-998-dism-windows-update\/\">Errors 0x800703e6 (998) in DISM and Windows Update<\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Windows Servicing Stack Diagnostics script<\/h2>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the Windows Servicing Stack Diagnostics script I wrote, which queries the servicing stack version installed on the computer and checks the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/how-to-get-file-hash-via-right-click-menu-windows\/\">hash checksum<\/a> (SHA256) of the servicing stack modules.<\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\">\n<h4>How to Download Run the script?<\/h4>\n<p>Right-click on the link <a href=\"https:\/\/gist.githubusercontent.com\/winhelponline\/143020469e68d274e9db9d35f360439c\/raw\/360b2e8f872b4be81b2392c5ef4708bff0c4c896\/SSUDiag.vbs\">SSUDiag.vbs<\/a>, and click &#8220;Save link as&#8221; or equivalent option in your browser. If your browser saves it as SSUDiag.vbs.txt, rename the file to <code>SSUDiag.vbs<\/code>. It&#8217;s highly likely that those DLLs are corrupt and need to be replaced. You can source those files from the respective ISO, MSU, or another system running the same <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/find-windows-10-build-version-edition-bit\/\">OS Build<\/a>.
