When you try to launch Windows Fax and Scan by running its executable WFS.exe<\/code>, you may encounter the following error:<\/p>\n

Windows cannot find 'c:\\windows\\system32\\wfs.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.<\/pre>\n
The file wfs.exe may be missing in the Windows\\System32 folder. You may be wondering how to start the Windows Fax and Scan program.<\/p>\n
Resolution<\/h2>\n
You can install Windows Fax and Scan via Optional features (Windows Features.)<\/p>\n
Method 1: Using Optional Features in Settings<\/h3>\n
Windows 11<\/h4>\n

  1. Open Settings \u2192 System \u2192 Optional features.<\/li>\n
  2. Click “View features”<\/li>\n
  3. Type “fax”.<\/li>\n
  4. Select Windows Fax and Scan from the list and click Next.<\/li>\n
  5. Click Install.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    Windows 10<\/h4>\n

    1. Open Settings \u2192 System \u2192 Optional features.<\/li>\n
    2. Click “Add a feature”<\/li>\n
    3. Type “fax”.<\/li>\n
    4. Select Windows Fax and Scan from the list.

      Method 2: Using the DISM command-line<\/h3>\n
      You can also use the following commands from admin Command Prompt to install Windows Fax and Scan.<\/p>\n
      First, remove the Fax feature completely (though its not showing up as installed) using the command below:<\/p>\n
      Dism \/Online \/Remove-Capability \/CapabilityName:Print.Fax.Scan~~~~0.0.1.0<\/pre>\n
      Reboot<\/strong> Windows. And then run the following command to install the Windows Fax and Scan feature:<\/p>\n
      Dism \/Online \/Add-Capability \/CapabilityName:Print.Fax.Scan~~~~0.0.1.0<\/pre>\n
