To backup your custom toolbar configuration in OneNote, use these steps:<\/p>\n<p>Start OneNote 2016, click the File menu and select Options.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/onenote-reset-toolbar-1-1.png\" alt=\"onenote 2016 reset ribbon toolbar\" width=\"456\" height=\"481\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4284\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the OneNote options dialog click Customize Ribbon, click Import\/Export button and choose <strong>Export all customizations<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/onenote-reset-toolbar-7.png\" alt=\"onenote 2016 reset ribbon toolbar\" width=\"322\" height=\"298\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4286\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Type in the output file name, or use the default file name &#8220;OneNote Customizations.exportedUI&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/onenote-reset-toolbar-8.png\" alt=\"onenote 2016 reset ribbon toolbar\" width=\"372\" height=\"348\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4287\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Method 1: Reset OneNote Toolbar Settings using GUI<\/h2>\n<p>In the OneNote Options dialog, click Customize Ribbon, and click <strong>Reset<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/onenote-reset-toolbar-2.png\" alt=\"onenote 2016 reset ribbon toolbar\" width=\"826\" height=\"780\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4279\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/onenote-reset-toolbar-3.png\" alt=\"onenote 2016 reset ribbon toolbar\" width=\"219\" height=\"52\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4280\" \/>Select one of the two options provided: <strong>Reset only selected Ribbon tab<\/strong>, or <strong>Reset all customizations<\/strong>. Clicking the 2nd option would reset the Ribbon as well as Quick Access Toolbar settings to defaults. Click <strong>Reset only Quick Access Toolbar<\/strong>, and click OK.<\/i><\/p>\n<h2>Method 2: Reset OneNote Toolbar Settings by Deleting the UI Customizations file<\/h2>\n<p>Customizations to OneNote Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar are saved in a file named <strong>OneNote.officeUI<\/strong>, in the following folder:<\/p>\n<pre>%localappdata%\\Microsoft\\Office<\/pre>\n<p>(Type the above folder path in Explorer Address bar and press ENTER.)<\/p>\n<p><em>This is the file which administrators use to <a href=\"https:\/\/msdn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/library\/office\/ee704589%28v=office.14%29.aspx?f=255&amp;MSPPError=-2147217396\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">deploy<\/a> custom Quick Access Toolbar and Ribbon settings across multiple computers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Deleting the file &#8220;OneNote.officeUI&#8221; would cause OneNote to revert back the toolbar settings to defaults.
