Sometimes you&#8217;d like to disable automatic updating to save bandwidth and traffic, especially when you&#8217;re on a slow connection or evaluating Windows 10\/11 on a Virtual Machine.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Also, if most of those installed apps aren&#8217;t used frequently (other than the few important ones), that&#8217;s another reason to turn off the auto-update feature. You can always update all or specific apps on-demand manually via Windows Store Settings.<\/p>\n<h2>Disable Automatic Updating of Store apps<\/h2>\n<p>Open Microsoft Store, click your user account icon at the top, and click Settings.<\/p>\n<p>In the new Microsoft Store app, the option is named &#8220;App settings&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27115\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/store-app-stop-auto-update.png\" alt=\"store app automatic update off\" width=\"582\" height=\"271\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Toggle off the &#8220;App updates&#8221; radio button.<\/p>\n<h2>Updating Windows Store apps manually<\/h2>\n<p>To update Windows Store apps manually when needed:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Microsoft Store.<\/li>\n<li>In the new Microsoft Store app, click on the &#8220;Library&#8221; option in the left pane.<\/li>\n<li>Click the &#8220;Get updates&#8221; button.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27119\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/store-app-stop-manual-update.png\" alt=\"store app update apps manually\" width=\"729\" height=\"502\" \/><\/li>\n<li>This lists the recent Microsoft Store activity (installation &amp; updates) for your user account.
