In earlier Windows 10 builds, you needed a registry edit to independently colorize the title bar. You don&#8217;t need to hack it anymore, as it&#8217;s now a built-in option.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Version 2004\/20H2 Build 19041\/19042<\/h3>\n<p>Open Settings (WinKey + i), click Personalization, Colors.<\/p>\n<p>Enable &#8220;Title bars and window borders&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Uncheck &#8220;Start, taskbar, and action center&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20073\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/title-bar-colorization-20h2.png\" alt=\"colorize title bar but not for taskbar and start menu\" width=\"347\" height=\"128\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Anniversary Update Build<\/h3>\n<p>Open Settings, click Personalization, Colors. Enable &#8220;Show color on title bar&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3668\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/show-color-on-title-bar-1.png\" alt=\"show color on taskbar\" width=\"598\" height=\"292\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t want to apply colors for the Start menu and Taskbar, disable the option &#8220;Show color on Start, taskbar and action center&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Pre-Anniversary Update Builds<\/h3>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t plan to install the anniversary update immediately, here is a registry edit to colorize only the title bar.<\/p>\n<p>First, disable the following option in Personalization Settings:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Show color on Start, taskbar, action center, and title bar&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3667\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/show-color-on-title-bar-2.png\" alt=\"show color on taskbar\" width=\"597\" height=\"148\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, start <code>regedit.exe<\/code> and go to:<\/p>\n<pre>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\DWM<\/pre>\n<p>Double-click <code>ColorPrevalence<\/code> and set its value data to <code>1<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Exit the Registry Editor.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll see the colored title bar while the taskbar and Start menu are black or uncolored.<\/p>\n<p>Here is how it looks:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3670\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/show-color-on-title-bar-4.png\" alt=\"show color on taskbar\" width=\"650\" height=\"302\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You may also turn off transparency for the Start menu and Taskbar if you like, by disabling the setting &#8220;Make Start, taskbar and action center transparent&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the Anniversary Update, you can show color on the title bar and still have the default (black) color for the Start menu and Taskbar.
