The error code 1310 means &#8220;Error attempting to create the destination file.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-34391\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/error-1310-installer.png\" alt=\"error 1310 windows installer\" width=\"353\" height=\"163\" \/><\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">Error 1310. Error writing to file:\n\n&lt;filename&gt;\n\nVerify that you have access to that directory.<\/pre>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The error 1310 occurs if the installer cannot create files in the specified folder due to insufficient NTFS permissions.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve the issue, assign the &#8220;Administrators&#8221; group and the SYSTEM (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/run-program-as-system-localsystem-account-windows\/\">Local System<\/a>) account full control permissions for that folder.<\/p>\n<p>To do so, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<p>Download the AdvancedRun utility from Nirsoft and start CMD.exe as TrustedInstaller (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/run-program-as-trustedinstaller-locked-registry-keys-files\/\">Instructions are here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>In the TrustedInstaller Command Prompt, run:<\/p>\n<pre>icacls &lt;folder path&gt; \/grant *S-1-5-32-544:F\n\nicacls &lt;folder path&gt; \/grant *S-1-5-18:F<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre>icacls c:\\windows\\system32\\en-us \/grant *S-1-5-32-544:F\n\nicacls c:\\windows\\system32\\en-us \/grant *S-1-5-18:F\n<\/pre>\n<p>(For each command, you should see the message &#8220;Successfully processed 1 files; Failed processing 0 files&#8221; in the output.)<\/p>\n<p>If you want to add the required permissions <strong>recursively<\/strong> (i.e., for the specified folder, its subfolders, and files), use the following command instead:<\/p>\n<pre>icacls c:\\windows\\system32\\en-us \/grant *S-1-5-32-544:F\u00a0 \/t \/c\n\nicacls c:\\windows\\system32\\en-us \/grant *S-1-5-18:F\u00a0 \/t \/c<\/pre>\n<p><em>(For more information, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/take-ownership-of-file-or-folder\/#folder_permissions\">Take ownership of a file or folder and assign permissions<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>See if you can install the software now. It&#8217;s advisable to launch the installer via admin Command Prompt or Task Manager \u2192 Run New Task \u2192 &#8220;Create this task with administrative privileges&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Note:<\/strong> You can also do the above without using the AdvancedRun tool. In that case, use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/take-ownership-of-file-or-folder\/#folder_permissions\">takeown.exe<\/a> command to take ownership of the folder before using icacls.exe. However, the AdvancedRun method can be more effective because the TrustedInstaller account has the highest privileges.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you try to install a program, the installer may encounter the error 1310.
