Right-click Start, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/open-elevated-command-prompt-windows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Command Prompt (Admin)<\/a> and then run the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>VDesk -install<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/vdesk1.png\" alt=\"VDesk launch program in new virtual desktop\" width=\"273\" height=\"112\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3426\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This adds a context menu item named <b>Open in new virtual desktop<\/b> for all files, which when clicked runs the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>VDesk.exe &lt;filename&gt;<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/vdesk2.png\" alt=\"VDesk launch program in new virtual desktop\" width=\"650\" height=\"263\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3425\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To remove the context menu item, run this from Command Prompt (Admin).<\/p>\n<pre>VDesk -uninstall<\/pre>\n<h2>Starting a Program in a Specific Virtual Desktop<\/h2>\n<p>To start a program in a specific <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/windowsexperience\/2015\/04\/16\/virtual-desktops-in-windows-10-the-power-of-windowsmultiplied\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Virtual Desktop<\/a>, you need to use the Command-line (or shortcut) using the following syntax:<\/p>\n<pre>vdesk 3 notepad &quot;C:\\Users\\Owner\\Desktop\\Hello.txt&quot;<\/pre>\n<p>This opens the specified text file using Notepad, in Virtual Desktop #3.
