But use it as a temporary workaround. It&#8217;s not recommended due to security reasons.<\/p>\n<pre>net localgroup Administrators \/add localservice<\/pre>\n<p>To revert the changes, run the following:<\/p>\n<pre>net localgroup Administrators \/delete localservice<\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<p>To properly fix the Audio Service Error <code>0x80070005<\/code>, follow the steps below.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To fix the Windows Audio service error <code>0x80070005<\/code>, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Start the Registry Editor (<code>Regedit.exe<\/code>) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/run-program-as-trustedinstaller-locked-registry-keys-files\/\">as TrustedInstaller<\/a> using the AdvancedRun tool.<\/li>\n<li>Close the AdvancedRun tool.<\/li>\n<li>In the Registry Editor, go to the following branch:\n<pre>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\MMDevices<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Right-click <strong>MMDevices<\/strong> and click Permissions.<\/li>\n<li>In the Permissions dialog, click Advanced.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30902\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/windows-audio-svc-0x80070005-permissions1.png\" alt=\"audiosrv error 0x80070005 \" width=\"515\" height=\"568\" \/><\/li>\n<li>This opens the Advanced Security settings dialog.\n<div class=\"newline\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6338\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/icotip.gif\" alt=\"tips bulb icon\" width=\"34\" height=\"34\" \/>The &#8220;Audiosrv&#8221; permission entry is <strong>missing<\/strong> in the Advanced Security Settings dialog.
