{"id":3022,"date":"2016-04-25T23:00:04","date_gmt":"2016-04-25T23:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/198.58.113.91\/blog\/?p=3022"},"modified":"2019-06-29T11:30:25","modified_gmt":"2019-06-29T11:30:25","slug":"onedrive-prevent-gpo-still-show-up-in-file-explorer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/onedrive-prevent-gpo-still-show-up-in-file-explorer\/","title":{"rendered":"OneDrive Appears in Explorer Even If &#8220;Prevent the Usage of OneDrive&#8221; Policy is Enabled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Even after enabling the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/Turn-off-or-uninstall-OneDrive-f32a17ce-3336-40fe-9c38-6efb09f944b0\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Prevent the Usage of OneDrive for file storage<\/a> Group Policy to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/onedrive-launch-nothing-happens-disablefilesyncngsc\/\">disable OneDrive<\/a>, the OneDrive shell folder may still show up in File Explorer navigation pane and File Open and Save As dialogs in every program, including Office.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to the Group Policy Editor, this policy setting lets you prevent apps and features from working with files on OneDrive. If you enable this policy setting:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Users can\u2019t access OneDrive from the OneDrive app and file picker.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Windows Store apps can\u2019t access OneDrive using the WinRT API.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>OneDrive doesn\u2019t appear in the navigation pane in File Explorer.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>OneDrive files aren\u2019t kept in sync with the cloud.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Users can\u2019t automatically upload photos and videos from the camera roll folder.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>However #3 doesn&#8217;t happen automatically. To remove the OneDrive shell folder from the navigation pane, you need to do one of these things after enabling the above Policy.<\/p>\n<h2>Run OneDrive.exe once<\/h2>\n<p>With the above Policy enabled, starting OneDrive.exe would automatically clear the shell folder from Explorer and Open and Save As dialogs. So, to clear the settings, run OneDrive.exe once.
