Also, the error code <code>0x00000bc4<\/code> (Desc: <code>ERROR_PRINTER_NOT_FOUND<\/code>) or <code>0x00000709<\/code> (Desc: <code>ERROR_INVALID_PRINTER_NAME<\/code>) appears when adding a new network printer.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000bc4).\r\n\r\nNo Printers Were Found.<\/pre>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The printer name is invalid.<\/p>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>Windows 11 version 22H2 introduced a new group policy named &#8220;Configure RPC Connection settings.&#8221; This policy setting controls which protocol and protocol settings to use for outgoing RPC connections to a remote print spooler.<\/p>\n<p>The default setting in 22H2 blocks Windows from finding your network printers. This causes your existing printers to be erased, and adding them manually causes the error 0x00000bc4.<\/p>\n<p>Setting &#8220;Configure RPC Connection settings&#8221; to &#8220;RPC over named pipes&#8221; fixes the issue.<\/p>\n<h2>Solution<\/h2>\n<p>To fix the network printer error 0x00000bc4, try these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch the Local Group Policy Editor (<code>gpedit.msc<\/code>)<\/li>\n<li>Go to the following section:\n<pre>Administrative Templates \u2192 Printers \u2192 Configure RPC connection settings<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: inherit;\">Select &#8220;RPC over named pipes&#8221; from the dropdown, and click OK.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-28996\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/rpc-printer-gpo-w11.png\" alt=\"0x00000bc4 22h2 - printer gpo rpc connection\" width=\"737\" height=\"750\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Exit the Group Policy Editor.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Registry Setting for the above GPO<\/h4>\n<p>[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\Printers\\RPC]<\/p>\n<p>There are 2 values that can be configured:<\/p>\n<p><code>RpcUseNamedPipeProtocol<\/code> REG_DWORD<\/p>\n<p>0: RpcOverTcp (default)<br \/>\n1: RpcOverNamedPipes<\/p>\n<h3>Credits<\/h3>\n<p>The above solution was initially found by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thomas_forde\/status\/1575096625470611458\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@thomas_forde<\/a>, who tweeted about it recently.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/thomas_forde\/status\/1575096625470611458<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After updating Windows 11 to version 22H2, your network printers may stop working.
