Try to reopen Settings Later<\/pre>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-28722\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/wu-something-went-wrong.png\" alt=\"windows update something went wrong\" width=\"728\" height=\"251\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>This happens if the Update Orchestrator Service (&#8220;<code>UsoSvc<\/code>&#8220;) is disabled or missing. This service manages Windows Updates. If stopped, your devices will not be able to download and install the latest updates.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><em>Important<\/em>:<\/strong> If the Windows Update services are deleted at every restart, your system could be infected. See the article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-update-services-deleted-every-restart\/\">Windows Update services are deleted<\/a> at every restart for more information.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Solution<\/h2>\n<h3>Start the Update Orchestrator Service<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click Start, and click Run.<\/li>\n<li>Type <code>services.msc<\/code> and click OK.<\/li>\n<li>Double-click &#8220;Update Orchestrator Service&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Set its Startup type to &#8220;Automatic (Delayed Start)&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Click Start to start the service.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Attempt to start these services:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows Update<\/li>\n<li>Background Intelligent Transfer Service<\/li>\n<li>Update Orchestrator Service<\/li>\n<li>Delivery Optimization<\/li>\n<li>Windows Modules Installer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the above services start correctly, launch Settings and access the Windows Update page now.<\/p>\n<p>If some services are missing or unable to start, restore the missing service(s) from the following links:<\/p>\n<h3>&#8220;Update Orchestrator Service&#8221; is missing?<\/h3>\n<p>If the Update Orchestrator Service is missing from the list of services, you can restore it using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/usosvc.zip\">usosvc.reg<\/a>\u00a0registry fix for Windows 10 and 11 (last tested on Windows 11 Build 22H2.)
