Mfplat.dll is one such Media Foundation Platform DLL that&#8217;s used by third-party media streaming apps and game software &#8212; e.g., Roblox.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>If Mfplat.dll is missing, you may receive one of the following error messages:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">mfplat.dll missing\nThe application failed to start because mfplat.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.<\/pre>\n<pre class=\"err\">mfplat.dll missing!\nYou possibly have Windows N. Please install the Media Feature Pack by Microsoft to enable video support! (Google: Media Feature Pack Windows 10\/8.1\/7)<\/pre>\n<pre class=\"err\">The program can't start because mfplat.dll is missing from your computer.<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27711\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/mfplat-dll-missing-1.png\" alt=\"mfplat.dll missing - error\" width=\"480\" height=\"191\" \/><\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">Failed to load library MFPlat.DLL<\/pre>\n<p>The above errors occur if the Media Feature Pack is not installed on the computer. Especially on Windows N or KN editions where the Media Feature Pack is not included by default, the above error occurs.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve the issue, install Media Feature Pack (Feature on Demand package) via the Windows Features or Optional Features dialog.<\/p>\n<h3>Install Media Feature Pack<\/h3>\n<p>On <strong>Windows 10<\/strong>, open Settings, and click <strong>System<\/strong>. On the left side, click Optional features. Install &#8220;Media Feature Pack&#8221; and, optionally, &#8220;Windows Media Player&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27176\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/media-feature-pack-fod.png\" alt=\"media feature pack - optional features - FoD\" width=\"688\" height=\"347\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On <strong>Windows 11<\/strong>, open Settings, and click System. On the right side, click Optional features. Click &#8220;Add an optional feature&#8221; and click on the View features button.<\/p>\n<h4>Install Media Feature Pack via Command-line<\/h4>\n<p>Open an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/open-elevated-command-prompt-windows\/\">admin Command Prompt<\/a> and run the following commands:<\/p>\n<pre>dism \/online \/add-capability \/capabilityname:Media.WindowsMediaPlayer~~~~0.0.12.0\ndism \/online \/add-capability \/capabilityname:Media.MediaFeaturePack~~~~0.0.1.0\ndism \/online \/enable-feature \/featurename:MediaPlayback<\/pre>\n<p>If you receive the following error for the 3rd command, please ignore it.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">Error: 0x800f080c\n\nFeature name MediaPlayback is unknown.\nA Windows feature name was not recognized.<\/pre>\n<p><em>(For more information and screenshots, see the article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-media-player-windows-10\/\">Restore Missing Media Feature Pack\/WMP in Windows 10 and 11<\/a>.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Restart Windows.<\/p>\n<p>After restarting, you should find <code>Mfplat.dll<\/code> in C:\\Windows\\System32 as well as C:\\Windows\\SysWOW64 directories.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the list of the Media Foundation Classes modules added by the Media Feature Pack:<\/p>\n<p>mf.dll<br \/>\nmfAACEnc.dll<br \/>\nmfasfsrcsnk.dll<br \/>\nmfaudiocnv.dll<br \/>\nMFCaptureEngine.dll<br \/>\nmfcore.dll<br \/>\nmfds.dll<br \/>\nmfdvdec.dll<br \/>\nmferror.dll<br \/>\nmfh263enc.dll<br \/>\nmfh264enc.dll<br \/>\nMFMediaEngine.dll<br \/>\nmfmjpegdec.dll<br \/>\nmfmkvsrcsnk.dll<br \/>\nmfmp4srcsnk.dll<br \/>\nmfmpeg2srcsnk.dll<br \/>\nmfnetcore.dll<br \/>\nmfnetsrc.dll<br \/>\nmfperfhelper.dll<br \/>\nmfplat.dll<br \/>\nMFPlay.dll<br \/>\nmfps.dll<br \/>\nmfreadwrite.dll<br \/>\nmfsrcsnk.dll<br \/>\nmfsvr.dll<br \/>\nmftranscode.dll<br \/>\nmfvdsp.dll<br \/>\nmfvfw.dll<br \/>\nMFWMAAEC.DLL<\/p>\n<p><em>I hope that helps.
