{"id":271,"date":"2008-05-07T11:11:58","date_gmt":"2008-05-07T05:41:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/198.58.113.91\/blog\/?p=271"},"modified":"2019-06-03T13:53:04","modified_gmt":"2019-06-03T13:53:04","slug":"copy-title-and-url-menu-extension-for-internet-explorer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/copy-title-and-url-menu-extension-for-internet-explorer\/","title":{"rendered":"Copy Title and URL Extension for Internet Explorer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a nice Internet Explorer extension which copies the current webpage title and address to the Windows clipboard.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><i>The script from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billsway.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">billsway.com<\/a> was originally written for earlier Internet Explorer versions, and I&#8217;ve modified a line &#8211; thanks to IE MVP Socrates (Soc) Trikes &#8211; to make it work in all versions of Internet Explorer, include IE in Windows 10.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/title_url.zip\">Title_URL.zip<\/a>, unzip and extract the contents to a folder. Move the file <b>Title_URL.htm<\/b> to the <b>C:\\Windows\\Web<\/b> directory. Then, right-click <b>Title_URL.reg<\/b> and choose <b>Merge<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>This adds the following items in Internet Explorer:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Copy Title &amp; URL Context menu option<\/li>\n<li>Copy Title &amp; URL Toolbar button<\/li>\n<li>Copy Title &amp; URL Tools menu option<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Copy Title &amp; URL &#8211; Context Menu Extension<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/titleurl1.gif\" width=\"242\" height=\"140\" \/><br \/>\n<i>Copy Title and <u>U<\/u>RL Context menu item<\/i><\/p>\n<p>To copy the Title and the URL of the current Webpage, simply right-click somewhere on the Webpage, and click <b>Copy Title and <u>U<\/u>RL<\/b>. The Title and URL are copied to the Clipboard, in the following format:<\/p>\n<pre>About \u2013 The Winhelponline Blog: \r\nhttps:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/about\/<\/pre>\n<p>You\u2019ll also see a confirmation message as below:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3652\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/copy-title-confirmation.png\" alt=\"Copy Title and URL in Internet Explorer\" width=\"342\" height=\"193\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can turn off the confirmation message by editing the file Title_URL.htm located in &#8220;C:\\Windows\\Web&#8221; using Notepad (Run as Administrator). You just need to change the following line:<\/p>\n<pre>var showConfirm=1<\/pre>\n<p>to<\/p>\n<pre>var showConfirm=0<\/pre>\n<p>The folder path is hard-coded for C:\\Windows\\Web in the REG file. If Windows is installed in a different location in your system, you need to edit the REG file using Notepad and update the drive-letter accordingly.<\/p>\n<p><i><b>Editor\u2019s Note:<\/b> I\u2019m using this extension for a long time now, and it\u2019s far more convenient for me to access the command from the Internet Explorer Toolbar. Here is how to add this extension to the Internet Explorer Toolbar.<\/i><\/p>\n<h2>Copy Title &amp; URL &#8211; Toolbar Button<\/h2>\n<p>If the Copy Title and URL button (with a globe icon) does not automatically appear in the Toolbar, you need to customize the Toolbar in order to display the button. To do so, right-click the Command bar, point to <b>Customize Command Bar<\/b>, and then click <b>Add or Remove Commands<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3654\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/copy-title-command-bar.png\" alt=\"Copy Title and URL in Internet Explorer\" width=\"538\" height=\"235\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click the button you want to add in the <b>Available toolbar buttons<\/b> list, and then click <b>Add<\/b>. When you\u2019re done, click <b>Close<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/copy-title-command-bar-2.png\" alt=\"Copy Title and URL in Internet Explorer\" width=\"357\" height=\"167\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it!
