{"id":24097,"date":"2021-05-20T16:30:15","date_gmt":"2021-05-20T11:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/198.58.113.91\/blog\/?p=24097"},"modified":"2023-01-20T20:46:54","modified_gmt":"2023-01-20T15:16:54","slug":"win32bridge-server-exe-incorrect-function-error-startup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/win32bridge-server-exe-incorrect-function-error-startup\/","title":{"rendered":"Win32Bridge.Server.exe &#8220;Incorrect Function&#8221; Error at Startup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After installing the latest Windows 10 Feature Update (v21H1), I received the following error at startup:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">C:\\Program Files\\WindowsApps\\Microsoft.549981C3F5F10_2.2103.17603.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\\Win32Bridge.Server.exe\r\n\r\nIncorrect function.<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24098\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/incorrect-function-error-startup.png\" alt=\"incorrect function error at startup - cortana\" width=\"598\" height=\"213\" \/><br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nWhen I checked the mentioned directory via Command Prompt, I found that it&#8217;s related to Cortana.<\/p>\n<p>The fix is simple. All I had to do was repair Cortana via Settings.<\/p>\n<h2>Solution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve the Win32Bridge.Server.exe &#8220;Incorrect Function&#8221; error at Startup:<\/p>\n<h3>Repair Cortana<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Settings \u2192 Apps \u2192 Apps &amp; Features.<\/li>\n<li>Select Cortana from the list, and click Advanced Options<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Repair<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Log off and log back in.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"qt\">\n<h4>Using PowerShell<\/h4>\n<p>If you wish to repair Cortana using PowerShell, use the following command from admin Command Prompt:<\/p>\n<pre>Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register \"C:\\Program Files\\WindowsApps\\Microsoft.549981C3F5F10_2.2103.17603.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\\AppxManifest.xml\"}<\/pre>\n<p><em>Make sure you use the correct folder name in place of <code>Microsoft.549981C3F5F10_2.2103.17603.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe<\/code>, depending upon the version of Cortana installed.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Reset Cortana<\/h3>\n<p>If the error pops up again, open Apps &amp; Features \u2192 Cortana \u2192 Advanced Options, and click <strong>Reset<\/strong> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/reset-app-settings-windows-10\/\">reset<\/a> Cortana.<\/p>\n<h3>Disable &#8220;Cortana&#8221; Startup entry<\/h3>\n<p>Alternately, to avoid the Win32Bridge.Server.exe error during logon, you can disable Cortana from running at Startup.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch Task Manager \u2192 click on the Startup tab.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click Cortana and click Disable.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After installing the latest Windows 10 Feature Update (v21H1), I received the following error at startup: C:\\Program Files\\WindowsApps\\Microsoft.549981C3F5F10_2.2103.17603.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\\Win32Bridge.Server.exe Incorrect function.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_feature_clip_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false},"categories":[8],"tags":[191],"class_list":["post-24097","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-windows-10","tag-error-messages"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"jetpack-related-posts":[{"id":5746,"url":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/installed-apps-not-find-start-menu-search-results-background-apps-off\/","url_meta":{"origin":24097,"position":0},"title":"Fix: Start Menu Cortana Search Not Finding Apps &#8211; Search Results Blank","author":"Ramesh","date":"November 2, 2017","format":false,"excerpt":"When you use Cortana search to find an installed program, the program may not appear in Start menu search results although the shortcut exists in the Start menu folder.
