One of the most useful options that is removed is the &#8220;View Image&#8221; context menu. It&#8217;s now replaced by &#8220;Open Image in New Tab,&#8221; which opens the image in a new tab (or a new window if the <kbd>Shift<\/kbd> key is pressed) instead of the same tab.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re wondering how to get back the View Image menu option back in Firefox, a simple Firefox extension is available.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Restore Missing &#8220;View Image&#8221; in Firefox Right-Click Menu<\/h2>\n<p>To restore the &#8220;View Image&#8221; right-click option in Firefox, install one of the add-ons discussed below:<\/p>\n<h3>1) &#8220;View Image Context Menu Item&#8221; Firefox Add-On<\/h3>\n<p>Install the &#8220;View Image Context Menu Item&#8221; Extension for Firefox from the following link:<\/p>\n<pre>https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/view-image-context-menu-item\/<\/pre>\n<p>This extension contains an Options page (<code>about:addons<\/code>) allowing for configuration of what the various user actions can do. The default actions are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Left-click opens the selected image in the same tab.<\/li>\n<li><kbd>Shift<\/kbd> left-click opens selected image in a new window.<\/li>\n<li><kbd>Ctrl<\/kbd> left-click opens the selected image in a new foreground tab.<\/li>\n<li><kbd>Ctrl<\/kbd> + <kbd>Shift<\/kbd> left-click opens selected image in a new background tab.<\/li>\n<li>Middle-click opens selected image in a new background tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23846\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/firefox-view-image-add-on-0.png\" alt=\"firefox view image menu add-on\" width=\"343\" height=\"422\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6338 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/icotip.gif\" alt=\"tips bulb icon\" width=\"34\" height=\"34\" \/>As you can see in the above screenshot, the View Image is shown at the bottom. You can bring it to the top by customizing the Firefox context menu using <a href=\"#customize\">userChrome.css<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\">\n<h4>Additional Information<\/h4>\n<p>The <code><strong>View Image Info<\/strong><\/code> menu entry which was removed Firefox v88, will be restored in v89. In Firefox v89, you should be able to enable it using the <code>browser.menu.showViewImageInfo<\/code> preference in <code>about:config<\/code>.\u00a0Alternatively, you may try the &#8220;View Image Info Reborn&#8221; add-on below that gives similar information (plus a bit more):<\/p>\n<pre>https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/view-image-info-reborn\/<\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<h4><strong>Caveats<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This add-on has been issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/kb\/add-on-badges#w_caution-label\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Caution label<\/a>. This label means that the add-on is <strong>not actively monitored<\/strong> for security by Mozilla. Make sure you trust it before installing. And, this add-on&#8217;s permission level is &#8220;Access your data for all websites.&#8221; Add-ons with this permission level can do the following:<\/p>\n<p>The extension can read the content of any web page you visit and the data you enter into those web pages, such as usernames and passwords.<\/p>\n<p>Extensions requesting this permission has the capability to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read product and price information from a page to help find you the best price on items you&#8217;re shopping for<\/li>\n<li>Offer a password manager that reads and writes details of your username and password.<\/li>\n<li>Provide an ad blocker by reading the content of each web page you open to find and remove ad code.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><a id=\"customize\"><\/a>Customizations<\/h4>\n<p>You can customize the Firefox context menu options using the userChrome.css file.\u00a0The above CSS code does the following things:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Hides the &#8220;Open Image in New Tab&#8221; context menu entry.<\/li>\n<li>Hides the &#8220;Open Video in New Tab&#8221; context menu entry.<\/li>\n<li>Moves &#8220;View Image&#8221; to the top of the context menu.<\/li>\n<li>Moves &#8220;View Video&#8221; to the top of the context menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Step 1: Create the userChrome.css file<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Create a file named <code>userChrome.css<\/code> in your Firefox profile folder.
