Sometimes, clearing the contents of the <strong>SoftwareDistribution\\Download<\/strong> folder works. To do so, use the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/open-elevated-command-prompt-windows\/\">elevated Command Prompt<\/a> window.<\/li>\n<li>Type the following commands one by one and press <kbd>ENTER<\/kbd> after each line:\n<pre>net stop bits\r\nnet stop wuauserv\r\nnet stop appidsvc\r\nnet stop cryptsvc\r\nnet stop msiserver<\/pre>\n<p>This stops <strong>Windows Update<\/strong>, <strong>Application Identity,<\/strong> <strong>Windows Installer<\/strong>, and <strong>Cryptographic Services<\/strong> temporarily.<\/li>\n<li>Open File Explorer and navigate to the following folder:\n<pre>C:\\Windows\\SoftwareDistribution\\Download<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select all items in that folder and delete them.
