This post tells you how to remove the redundant Wi-Fi network connections or connections that you added some time ago but are no longer in use.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/wifi-dupl-3.png\" width=\"362\" height=\"583\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><i><b>Editor&#8217;s note:<\/b> Before proceeding, you should note that once the Wi-Fi profile is deleted the stored password for that profile is also cleared. Make sure you note down the Wi-Fi profile password and its settings if you think you will need them later. After removing the redundant profile, for some unknown reason, I had to input the WPA2-PSK key again for the original connection (Belkin.3783). While this may not necessarily be the same in your case, creating a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/create-system-restore-point-script-windows-10-8-7-vista-xp\/\">Restore point<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/backup-wifi-profiles-restore-xml-file\/\">backing up the Wi-Fi profiles<\/a> beforehand is suggested.<\/i><\/p>\n<h2>Using Manage Wi-Fi Settings in Windows 10<\/h2>\n<p>In Windows 10, open Settings \u2192 Network \u2192 Wi-Fi \u2192 <strong>Manage known networks<\/strong>.<br \/>\nOn the Manage known networks page, select the profile you want to remove and click <b>Forget<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/wifi-dupl-6.png\" width=\"486\" height=\"593\" border=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Using Netsh Command-Line<\/h2>\n<p>Open an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/how-to-open-an-elevated-command-prompt-windows-vista\/\">admin Command Prompt<\/a>, and type the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>netsh wlan show all | clip<\/pre>\n<p>This copies the entire WLAN info to the clipboard. Open Notepad and paste the results. Use the Find option and locate the Wi-Fi profile entry that you want to remove.. (<i>Belkin.3783 2<\/i> in this example), and note down the interface name, which in this case is <i>Wireless Network Connection 5.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/wifi-dupl-1.png\" width=\"564\" height=\"451\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the elevated Command Prompt window, type:<\/p>\n<pre>netsh wlan delete profile name=\"Belkin.3783 2\" interface=\"Wireless Network Connection 5\"<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/wifi-dupl-2.png\" width=\"599\" height=\"157\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><i>(The parameter &#8220;interface&#8221; is optional.
