It&#8217;s the UseOLEDTaskbarTransparency registry value that does the magic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> This registry edit works in Windows 10 version 1903 and earlier. It <strong>doesn&#8217;t<\/strong> seem to work if you have v1909, 2004, or higher installed. In Windows 10 1909, 2004 and higher, you may try <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/make-taskbar-translucent-fully-transparent-windows-10\/\">TranslucentTB<\/a> or a similar third-party utility.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Make the Taskbar Fully Transparent<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Click Start, type <code>regedit.exe<\/code>, and go to:\n<pre>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\Advanced<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Create a new DWORD (32-bit) value named <code><b>UseOLEDTaskbarTransparency<\/b><\/code><\/li>\n<li>Double-click <code>UseOLEDTaskbarTransparency<\/code> and set its value data to 1<\/li>\n<li>Go to the following branch:\n<pre>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Dwm<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Create a DWORD (32-bit) value named <strong><code>ForceEffectMode<\/code><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Set the data for <code>ForceEffectMode<\/code> to 1<\/li>\n<li>Exit the Registry Editor.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click Desktop, click Personalize<\/li>\n<li>Click Color, and enable the Transparency effects.<\/li>\n<li>Also, enable these options:\n<ul>\n<li>Automatically pick an accent color from my background<\/li>\n<li>Show accent color on: <strong>Start, taskbar, action center<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Show accent color on: <strong><strong><strong>Title bars and window borders<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"newline\"><em><strong>Note:<\/strong> If they&#8217;re already enabled, turn off one of the three settings and then <u>toggle it back on<\/u>. This is done in order to apply the above registry edit without requiring to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/exit-explorer-restart-windows-10-8\/\">restart the Shell<\/a>.<\/em><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Download<\/b> Registry File for this setting &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/W10-OLED-Taskbar-Transparency.zip\">W10-OLED-Taskbar-Transparency.zip<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The high transparency taskbar mode (OLED) is activated.
