Reinstall Microsoft Print to PDF Using Devices and Printers<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Click Start \u2192 Settings \u2192 Devices \u2192 Printers and scanners.<\/li>\n<li>Click <b>Add a printer or scanner<\/b><\/li>\n<li>As it searches for the printer, a new option named &#8220;The printer that I want isn&#8217;t listed&#8221; will show up on the screen. Click &#8220;The printer that I want isn&#8217;t listed.&#8221; This starts the classic &#8220;Add Printer&#8221; wizard.\n<div class=\"qt\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6338 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/icotip.gif\" alt=\"tips bulb icon\" width=\"34\" height=\"34\" \/>Alternately, you can launch the Add Printer dialog (thus skipping steps 1-4) via Control Panel \u2192 Device and Printers \u2192 <strong>Add a printer<\/strong> (button). Another way is to launch the Add Printer dialog is by using the following command-line from the Run dialog.<\/p>\n<pre>C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\printui.exe \/im<\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Windows will try to detect if there are any printers connected to the system. As Microsoft Print to PDF is just a driver, click <b>The printer that I want isn&#8217;t listed<\/b> and click Next.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/ms-print-pdf-2.png\" width=\"599\" height=\"392\" border=\"1\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click <b>Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/ms-print-pdf-3.png\" width=\"600\" height=\"440\" border=\"1\" \/><br \/>\n<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>PORTPROMPT: (Local Port)<\/strong> from the drop-down list box, and click Next.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/ms-print-pdf-4-1.png\" width=\"598\" height=\"421\" border=\"1\" \/><br \/>\n<em><strong>Note:<\/strong> In the above dialog, many users tend to choose the <code>FILE: (Print to File)<\/code> or <code>LPT1<\/code> port, which are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/ms-print-to-pdf-prn-file-does-nothing\/\">incorrect port<\/a> settings. Selecting those ports causes MS Print to PDF to print to .PRN files or do nothing at all.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Select Microsoft in the <i>Manufacturer<\/i> scroll box, and select Microsoft Print to PDF in the right pane.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/ms-print-pdf-5.png\" width=\"600\" height=\"421\" border=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\">\n<h3>Microsoft Print to PDF not listed?<\/h3>\n<p>On my Windows 10 v20H2 device, &#8220;Microsoft Print to PDF&#8221; wasn&#8217;t listed (even after using the Windows Update option) in the Add Printer dialog.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/ms-print-to-pdf-missing-add-printer.png\" alt=\"microsoft print to pdf printer missing add printer list\" width=\"600\" height=\"317\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If Microsoft Print to PDF is not listed in the above dialog, then follow these steps to get it back in the list:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Launch the command <code><strong>printui.exe \/s<\/strong><\/code> from the Start, Run dialog.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the Drivers tab.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20303\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/ms-print-pdf-driver-1.png\" alt=\"microsoft print to pdf printer missing add printer list\" width=\"463\" height=\"532\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Select Microsoft Print to PDF driver from the list, and click Remove&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Remove driver only<\/strong> and click OK. You <strong>don&#8217;t<\/strong> have to remove the driver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/remove-old-printers-add-printer-list-windows-10\/#driver_store\">package<\/a>.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20305\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/ms-print-pdf-driver-2.png\" alt=\"microsoft print to pdf printer missing add printer list\" width=\"308\" height=\"220\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click Yes when you see the prompt: <em><strong>Deleting this printer driver will remove it from the system. This sequence is required in some cases, depending upon how the Microsoft Print to PDF driver was removed in the first place.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"powershell\"><\/a>3. Reinstall Microsoft Print to PDF Using PowerShell<\/h3>\n<p>Open PowerShell.exe as <strong>administrator<\/strong> and run the following commands one by one:<\/p>\n<pre>Disable-WindowsOptionalFeature -online -FeatureName Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Features -All<\/pre>\n<pre>Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -online -FeatureName Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Features -All<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9368\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/ms-print-pdf-powershell.png\" alt=\"reinstall microsoft print to pdf\" width=\"699\" height=\"142\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><a id=\"dism\"><\/a>4.
