When you attempt to run a .js (JScript Script File) file, one of the following errors may occur:<\/p>\n

The “script engine” error occurs if the .js<\/code> file association data is missing or incorrect. Follow these steps to resolve the problem:<\/p>\n

  1. Open an elevated Command Prompt<\/a> window.<\/li>\n
  2. Type the following command and press Enter:\n
    regsvr32 %systemroot%\\system32\\jscript.dll<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
  3. Type exit<\/code> to close the Command Prompt window.<\/li>\n
  4. Right-click jscript_fix.reg<\/a> (zipped), click “Save Target as” or the equivalent option in your browser, and save the file to the desktop.<\/li>\n
  5. Unzip the archive, and double-click on the .reg file to apply the settings. The fix applies to all versions of Windows, including Windows 10.<\/li>\n
