Using the Personalize app, one can change the accent\/color of the active title bar, but inactive title bar remains white as usual. However there is a registry setting to change inactive title bar color easily.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/w10-title-accent-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"555\" height=\"484\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The above is the default title bar color, white, for both active and inactive windows. The active title bar color can be changed via Personalize &gt;&gt; Colors &gt;&gt; choosing an accent color &gt;&gt; enabling the option <strong>Show color on Start, taskbar, action center and title bar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/w10-title-accent-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"432\" height=\"758\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With that done, the active title bar color is changed, but the inactive title bar color isn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/w10-title-accent-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"554\" height=\"486\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To change the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">inactive title bar<\/span> color, you need to create or edit&nbsp;a registry value named AccentColorInactive, set the preferred color code for that value.<\/p>\n<h2>Color Choices<\/h2>\n<p>start Paintbrush (mspaint.exe) or any tool that has a decent color picker module in it. Click the <strong>Edit colors<\/strong> button in the toolbar.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/w10-bg-color-pick-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"435\" height=\"137\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Pick a color from the list, or make up a custom color.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/w10-bg-color-pick-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"356\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Note down the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Red<\/strong><\/span> : <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Green<\/strong><\/span> : <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Blue<\/strong><\/span> (RGB) values, and convert each color code to HEX format using the calculator application (scientific mode).<\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\">Much quicker way is to use a online rgb to hex converter. You simply pick a color from the color picker chart and the corresponding hex values are displayed. For example, here is one such site: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easycalculation.com\/colorconverter\/rgb-coder.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RGB to HEX Converter<\/a><\/div>\n<p>For example, if you got <strong>106 92 108<\/strong> in the Edit Colors dialog, the HEX equivalent would be #<strong>66606C [ that is <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">66<\/span> <span style=\"color: #008000;\">60<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">6C<\/span>].<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Important: <\/strong>What we&#8217;ve got is the color code in RGB format&#8230; whereas Windows 10 stores the color codes in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">reverse format<\/span>, that is BGR format instead of RGB. So, you&#8217;d be inputting <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">6C<\/span><span style=\"color: #008000;\">60<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">66<\/span><\/strong><\/span> in the registry.<\/p>\n<p>Start the Registry Editor (<strong>Regedit.exe<\/strong>) and go to this key:<\/p>\n<pre>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\DWM<\/pre>\n<p>Create a DWORD (32-bit) value named <strong>AccentColorInactive<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/w10-title-accent-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"585\" height=\"296\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Double-click <strong>AccentColorInactive<\/strong> and set its value data accordingly (6C6066, as derived earlier).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/w10-title-accent-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"356\" height=\"224\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Close Registry Editor, and note that the change is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">applied immediately<\/span> by the Desktop Window Manager, thus requiring no logoff-logon or restarting the shell.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/w10\/w10-title-accent-6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"554\" height=\"484\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The title bar color in Windows 10 is plain white by default, both for active windows as well as for inactive windows.
