By default Windows prevents the following host processes from being pinned to the taskbar.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>RUNDLL32.EXE<\/li>\n<li>MSHTA.EXE<\/li>\n<li>DLLHOST.EXE<\/li>\n<li>APPLAUNCH.EXE<\/li>\n<li>HH.EXE<\/li>\n<li>WINHLP32.EXE<\/li>\n<li>MMC.EXE<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&#8230; and other file names defined in the following registry key in string values <b>HostApps<\/b>, <b>AddRemoveApps<\/b> and <b>AddRemoveNames<\/b><\/p>\n<div class=\"registry\">HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \\ SOFTWARE \\ Microsoft \\ Windows \\ CurrentVersion \\ Explorer \\ FileAssociation<\/div>\n<p>To remove the Pin to Taskbar (and &quot;Pin this program to taskbar&quot;) context menu options for a particular application, use these steps:<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Click Start, type <b>Regedit.exe<\/b> and go to the following key:<\/p>\n<div class=\"registry\">HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\Applications<\/div>\n<p>Create a subkey with the name of the application (say, \\clsidview.exe)<\/p>\n<p>Select to the newly created branch:<\/p>\n<div class=\"registry\">HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\Applications\\clsidview.exe<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/w7-ishostapp-2.png\"><\/p>\n<p>In the right pane, create a String value named <b>IsHostApp<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Exit the Registry Editor.<\/p>\n<p>This prevents the application (&quot;clsidview.exe&quot;, in this example) from being pinned to the Taskbar.
