Task Scheduler will attempt to reconnect to it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10238\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/task-scheduler-service-not-available.png\" alt=\"ask scheduler service is not available. Task scheduler will try to reconnect to it\" width=\"403\" height=\"146\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This error may occur although the Task Scheduler service is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/task-scheduler-service-grayed-out-windows\/\">running<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Task Scheduler service is not available. Task Scheduler will attempt to reconnect<\/h2>\n<p>This error occurs due to network conditions set for the task. If the task is configured to run only when a specific network is available, the error occurs if that specific network is unavailable.<\/p>\n<p><em>If that specific network connection is unavailable, Windows shouldn&#8217;t throw an error. This, clearly is a bug in Windows.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Follow this workaround if your task doesn&#8217;t require a network, or if it can work with <strong>any network<\/strong> that is available.<\/p>\n<p>First, identify the task which was configured with the network condition. If a recently run task caused the error, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/find-unknown-program-open-and-close-immediately\/\">identify the &#8220;last run&#8221; task<\/a> using different ways.<\/p>\n<p>To view the list of tasks configured to start only if a network connection is available and with a specific network connection, run this command from an elevated PowerShell (<code>PowerShell.exe<\/code>) window.<\/p>\n<pre>gci -path c:\\windows\\system32\\tasks\\* -recurse | select-string -pattern \"&lt;\/Id&gt;\" | select-object filename,line<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/task-scheduler-service-not-available-5.png\" alt=\"ask scheduler service is not available. Task scheduler will try to reconnect to it - powershell\" width=\"699\" height=\"173\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10251\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This lists all the tasks that are configured to use a specific network <strong>ID<\/strong>. Here is the XML markup from a sample task.<\/p>\n<pre>&lt;RunOnlyIfNetworkAvailable&gt;true&lt;\/RunOnlyIfNetworkAvailable&gt;\r\n    &lt;NetworkSettings&gt;\r\n      <strong>&lt;Id&gt;{115AA1E6-4975-424A-989B-622B814D0174}&lt;\/Id&gt;<\/strong>\r\n      &lt;Name&gt;XT1068 4219&lt;\/Name&gt;\r\n    &lt;\/NetworkSettings&gt;<\/pre>\n<p><em><strong>Note:<\/strong> <code>{115AA1E6-4975-424A-989B-622B814D0174}<\/code> represents the <code>Belkin<\/code> network profile on my computer. FYI, the list of network profiles are under the <code>CurrentVersion\\NetworkList\\Profiles<\/code> registry key.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Once you identify the offending task, open Task Scheduler.<\/li>\n<li>Double-click to open the Properties of the offending task, select the <strong>Conditions<\/strong> tab.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10237\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/task-scheduler-service-not-available-2.png\" alt=\"ask scheduler service is not available. Task scheduler will try to reconnect to it\" width=\"632\" height=\"326\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Under Network, uncheck <strong>Start only if the following network connection is available<\/strong>.\n<p>However, if the task needs network connectivity to run correctly, enable the checkbox, but select <strong>Any connection<\/strong> from the dropdown list box.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This fixes the error <strong>Task Scheduler service is not available.
