Speed Up Windows 10 Start Menu by Disabling Animation Effects

With the visual effects turned on by default, Windows 10 Start menu may open a bit slow, caused by animation effect of the Start frame (window) as well as the animation of elements inside the Start menu.

Screen capture tool which I used could not clearly capture the animation effect of the elements in the Start menu for some reason.

You can disable the following Visual effects to speed up display of Windows 10 Start Menu or Start screen.

Right-click Start, click System. Click Advanced system settings. Under Performance, click Settings and uncheck the following options:

  • Animate controls and elements inside windows
  • Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing

disable animation start menu windows 10

The start menu, as well as your program windows will now load pretty fast.
