The New menu helps you create a new file quickly in the current folder location. The New menu lists the following items by default in a clean install of Windows:
- Folder
- Shortcut
- Bitmap image
- Contact
- Rich Text Document
- Text Document
- Compressed (zipped) folder
If some of the default items in the New menu are missing in your system, here is a REG file that restores them back.
Restore Built-In Items to the New menu
Note that the REG file doesn’t remove any custom entries which you may have added. All it does is bring back the default items to the New menu.
