McUICnt.exe – Entry Point Not Found

After updating the McAfee Antivirus software, some users are seeing the following error on their systems:

McUICnt.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point BCryptHash could not be located in the dynamic link library bcrypt.dll

The module McUICnt.exe belongs to McAfee Antivirus. It’s launched at logon by the “McAfeeLogon” scheduled task. This app starts your McAfee app when you log on to your PC. The module is usually located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee\Platform\McUICnt.exe.

Resolution

This is an ongoing issue, and the McAfee team seems to be working on a fix (as of May 1, 2023).

McAfee support team suggests the following steps to resolve the error:

  1. If you’ve installed the free McAfee Security scan plus app, please uninstall it from your system.
  2. Cleanly uninstall McAfee products by running the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool (MCPR.exe) available at McAfee KB – How to remove McAfee products from a Windows PC (TS101331)
  3. Reinstall McAfee Antivirus.

I hope that information helps.
