[Fix] Cumulative Update KB5003173 Error 0x800f0922

When you install the Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 (KB5003173), it may roll back at 90% and displays the following error:

We couldn't complete the updates

Undoing changes

Don't turn off your computer.

After restarting Windows, the Windows Update page shows the error 0x800f0922.

Solution

This happens if the Microsoft Edge (Chromium) web browser has been uninstalled earlier by the user.



To resolve the issue, use one of the methods below if you’ve uninstalled Edge:

  • Delete the empty “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge” folder. (or)
  • Download Microsoft Edge (Chromium) and install it.

Then, install the KB5003173 (Cumulative Update) via Windows Update or .msu installer downloaded from the MU Catalog. The direct download links are below:
