Fix Quick Launch Error “Cannot Create Toolbar” in Windows Vista

When you right-click on the Taskbar, click Toolbars and then select Quick Launch in your Windows Vista PC, the error "Cannot create toolbar" may popup and the Quick Launch toolbar fails to appear.

The result may be the same when you enable the "Show Quick Launch" option in Taskbar and Start menu Properties, and click OK.

Fixing the Quick Launch Toolbar

1. Download, unzip and run the enclosed REG file. This restores the IShellFolderBand GUID {D82BE2B0-5764-11D0-A96E-00C04FD705A2} which in turn fixes the problem.

2. Make sure that the Quick Launch folder exists in the following location:

C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

If it’s missing, create a new folder named "Quick Launch" in the above folder.

3. Logoff and login back for the changes to take effect.

In Windows XP (similar problem was reported long time back), all you need to do is to run two commands to cure the problem. One command recreates the Quick Launch folder and the other registers the Shell32.dll module. (REF "Cannot create Toolbar" error when you enable Quick Launch in Windows XP.)
