Fix: LogiLDA.dll Error at Startup

After upgrading to Windows 10, you may see one of the following errors when logging in to your user account:

There was a problem starting C:\Windows\System32\LogiLDA.dll The specified module could not be found

Error in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\LOGILDA.DLL - Missing entry: LOGIFETCH
There was a problem starting C:\Windows\System32\LogiLDA.dll. C:\Windows\System32\LogiLDA.dll is not a valid Win32 application.

These errors especially occur after you upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 or Windows 10. It’s caused by the Logitech Download Assistant software that runs during startup to detect and download newly released Logitech updates. This module may have been removed during Windows 10 Setup (due to incompatibility), but the remnant startup entry is causing the error.

Fix: LogiLDA.dll Error at Startup in Windows 10

When you install Logitech software — e.g., Logitech Setpoint, the Logitech Download Assistant may be installed automatically. Note that this software may be preinstalled in Dell, HP or other OEM-branded computers. In my client’s system, it seems to have installed automatically when installing the Logitech K400+ drivers. The recent versions of Logitech SetPoint software don’t install the Logitech Download Assistant.

The Logitech Download Assistant software installation creates a startup entry in the following registry branch:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Value: Logitech Download Assistant
Data : C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\Windows\System32\LogiLDA.dll,LogiFetch

To remove the LogiLDA.dll error at startup, open Task Manager and click on the Startup tab.

To remove Logitech Download Assistant from the startup, you can use Autoruns, or manually remove the entry using the Registry Editor.
