Organize Favorites dialog in Internet Explorer displays a "Red X" mark

Symptom

When you click the Organize Favorites submenu under Favorites menu, the Organize Favorites dialog opens, but a Red X mark may be present where the Favorites list is to be displayed.

Resolution

Fix for Internet Explorer 7 and above

Download ieframe-fix.zip, unzip and run the enclosed REG file. The REG file restores the missing/incorrect values in the following registry location:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ CLSID \ {55136805-B2DE-11D1-B9F2-00A0C98BC547}

Fix for Internet Explorer 6

Step 1

Login as Administrator or equivalent, and type the following command in Start, Run dialog:

regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll

Step 2

If you've accidentally disabled the Shell Name Space add-on using the Manage Add-ons dialog in Windows XP SP2, re-enable the add-on. (See image). Here is the add-on description.
