Internet Explorer Toolbar settings are not saved?

Symptom

Internet Explorer Toolbar layout and window size preferences are reset every time you open Internet Explorer.

Resolution

If you are using a HP or Compaq PC, try this:

Click Start, Run, type msconfig.exe. Click Startup tab and uncheck the entry named Autotkit.exe if exists. Restart Windows. If this does not help, download the fix from HP Web site. This fix is applicable for HP and Compaq PCs running Windows XP.

Additional Note: HP Toolkit is known to reset the Internet Explorer Window position values as well.

If that does not help, reset the Toolbar position in the registry using this REG file. Close all browser windows and apply the .REG file.
