Installation of Windows Sidebar Gadgets Is Managed by Your System Administrator

When you try to install a third-party gadget to the Windows Vista Sidebar, the following message may be displayed:

Installation of Windows Sidebar gadgets is managed by your system administrator.

The above error occurs if you’re trying to add a gadget which is not digitally signed and a Policy setting in your system prevents installation of unsigned gadgets. Note that Windows Vista by default allows installation of signed and unsigned gadgets. (more…)

Calendar Gadget in Windows Sidebar Is Blank With Orange Background

When you open Windows Sidebar and add the Calendar Gadget, it may show a plain orange background with no date. Also, the Stocks Gadget may now show when you add it to the Sidebar. Registering the vbscript.dll file from an admin Command Prompt fixes the problem. Follow these steps: (more…)
