After installing the Creators Update for Windows 10, the “Show most used apps” toggle switch may be grayed out in Personalization > Start page. This is due to a Privacy setting that turns of the ability to track recent programs.
Enable “Show most used apps” option
1. Open Settings [WinKey + i]
2. Click Privacy
3. Enable the option “Let Windows track app launches to improve Start and search results”
4. Click Home, click Personalization, Start
You should be able to enable “Show most used apps” setting now.
Note: The setting may be grayed out also if you have the “Prevent changes to Taskbar and Start Menu Settings” group policy or its equivalent registry value enabled.
