Question: When I was disabling some of the startup applications using MSCONFIG, I was asked if I want to restart the system. I hit the checkbox and now it never reminds me to restart if I change something in the Startup. How do I bring that restart prompt back? I’m using Windows Vista.
The System Configuration Utility (msconfig.exe) in Windows Vista shows the following prompt if you modify the system settings using the utility. If you accidentally enabled the Don’t show this message again option when closing the System Configuration Utility, you’ll need to delete a registry value to restore the prompt back.

Restore the restart prompt in System Configuration Utility
1. Click Start, type the following command and press ENTER:
(You may copy the above command-line and paste it in the Start, Search box, instead of typing it manually.)
2. You should see the following message in the Command Prompt:
The operation completed successfully.
3. Type EXIT to close the Command Prompt Window.
USING THE REGISTRY EDITOR
Alternately, you can edit the registry directly to remove the value. Use these steps:
1. Click Start, type Regedit.exe and press ENTER
2. Delete the value named NoRebootUI in the right pane.
3. Exit the Registry Editor.
