We have covered this here already. Thought I’d add this particular one separately as a quick tip!
You can run programs under elevated rights by right-clicking on the executable or its shortcut and choosing Run as Administrator. Here is a keyboard shortcut that helps you launch programs elevated from the Start menu Search box.
For example, to open Command Prompt as administrator, click Start, type cmd in the Search box and press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER. You’ll see the User Account Control window popping up for task elevation confirmation. Press ALT+C to continue.
The CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER shortcut is extremely useful for those like me who use Keyboard most of the time. Note that this shortcut works only on the Start menu.
(To see the list of other Keyboard shortcuts for Windows Vista, read the Shell Blog post Do things faster with Keyboard Shortcuts.)
Alternately, type cmd in the Start menu search box. Right-click on the corresponding item from the Start menu search results and click Run as Administrator command.
