NVIDIA Control Panel context menu item is added when you install NVIDIA Forceware drivers. Here is how to remove this option from the Desktop context menu if you rarely use this item.
Note that you’ll can still access the NVIDIA utility via the Control Panel, or by running the command nvcplui.exe from Start, Run dialog.
Removing NVIDIA Control Panel from the right-click menu
1. Launch regedit.exe and navigate to the following branch:
2. Right-click NvCplDesktopContext and choose Export
3. Backup the branch to a .reg file.
4. Right-click NvCplDesktopContext and choose Delete
5. Exit the Registry Editor.
NVIDIA Control Panel is now removed from the context menu.
Editor’s note: Unchecking the Add Desktop Context Menu option in the NVIDIA Control Panel only hides the NVIDIA Control Panel entry from the right click menu, but Windows Explorer would still load the shell extension.
