How to remove Nokia Phone Browser icon from My Computer
Q: I have the latest version of Nokia PC Suite installed, and have been trying to remove the Nokia Phone Browser icon from My Computer. So far have been unsuccessful. Do you know how to remove the icon? I’m using Windows XP SP2.
A: Yes. You may use one of these two methods to remove the Nokia Phone Browser icon from My Computer.
Method 1 - Using TweakUI PowerToy
If you have TweakUI PowerToy for Windows XP installed, start TweakUI and click the My Computer option in TweakUI. Uncheck Nokia Phone Browser entry and click OK.
Method 2 - Using the Registry Editor
Click Start, Run. Type regedit.exe and press {ENTER}
Navigate to the following branch:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ MyComputer \ NameSpace
Right-click on the subkey {416651E4-9C3C-11D9-8BDE-F66BAD1E3F3A} and choose Export
Type nokiaphonebrowser.reg as the file name, and click OK to backup the branch
Then right-click {416651E4-9C3C-11D9-8BDE-F66BAD1E3F3A} and choose Delete.
Click Yes when prompted for confirmation.
Exit the Registry Editor.
Nokia Phone Browser entry should no longer exist when you open My Computer. You can still access the Phone Browser feature by launching Nokia PC Suite application. If you want to undo the above edit, simply double-click the nokiaphonebrowser.reg file that you created earlier.
