This article really made my day! Received an old HP Pavilion computer running Windows XP Professional as a gift because the previous owner had forgotten the user password. I tried everything I knew to get past the forgotten password to no avail and couldn't afford to buy a new copy of windows. The machine was completely useless to me until I read this article. I followed the instructions on how to change the password in safe mode using command prompts, and it worked! Thanks to this article, and your website, I now have a brand new computer! Thanks so much!
