Earlier, we saw how to remove misspelled words from the custom dictionary in Windows Mail by editing the file UserDictionary.lex using Notepad. Here is a small tool that I wrote to automate the process.

Windows Mail’s user interface does not have an option to add or remove words in the custom spell check dictionary. This utility is just written for that purpose. Download customdic-editor.zip (~10K), which includes the two files wmdictionaryedit.exe and readme.txt.

thank you for your help..bill
Thank you for the Edit Custom Dictionary in Windows Mail – it works in Vista and IE-7 and will keep me “corrected.”
@Mark: It works with the default store folder location. Will work on this issue and release an update!
Ramesh,
I’m sure this is a great app, but it’s not working for me. My store folder is at D:\cache data\windows mail which contains user dictionary.lex.
When I start your app, it comes up with a blank list for the contents of the custom dict. every time, despite there being lots of entries in the dictionary which I can verify using notepad.
Is there a reg key I can amend to reflect the correct target directory?
Mark
