I did have the same problem and wiped out my entire hard disk. I did use Registry Mechanic for cleaning my registry. I guess it created the problem. Your blog was great help in understanding this problem. Thanks a lot.

Hi,

In paragraph 5, of Instructions for Windows Vista - to the best of my knowledge - this is wrong:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE" /n "%1"

shouldn't it be:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE" /n "%1"

or OfficeXX - regarding the version:
Office11 for v. 2003
Office10 for v. 2002
Office9 for v. 2000

Please check the above and I will appreciate some notice to my E-Mail in order to come beck and see if ant changes were made by you.

Thanks, Micky

Thanks a Ton, this problem has occurred twice for me, first time I fixed it with system restore, second time with your registry fix. I must admit this was a useful piece of code.

Thank you so much! I used the article that led me to this (http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/242/1/Error-0x80070032-when-creating-a-System-Restore-point-in-Windows-Vista.html#postedcomment) which half worked, and when I used this article the problem was solved!

Thanks again!

One small remark about the script: in my case after installing Subinacl.exe it was not added to the path, so I had to add it in the file reset.cmd. An alternative would be to change the PATH environment variable.
And most important - thanks for this article!
