Preserve the Order of Internet Explorer Favorites When Transferring to Another PC

The Favorites menu in Internet Explorer lets you arrange the shortcuts by dragging each shortcut to your preferred location within the Favorites menu. If you use the Import/Export Wizard in Internet Explorer or manually copy the URL favorites to another system, the favorites order is not copied to the target system. Repairing or Rebuilding the Icons in Windows XP Using Tweak UI

One of our readers wrote to tell that the registry edit to change the open folder icon did not work in their Windows XP system, even after several reboots. Usually the shell icons refresh automatically after a restart, and if that does not happen, we can force an icon refresh using Microsoft’s Tweak UI PowerToy for Windows XP. Fix for Disk Defragmenter GUI Not Opening in Windows Vista

When you right-click on a drive in (My) Computer, choose Properties, click Tools and click Defragment Now…, the Defragmenter GUI is supposed to open. If the Task Scheduler service is disabled, clicking the Defragment Now… button may show the User Account Control dialog, but the Disk Defragmenter GUI does not launch. Fix: MP3 Files Are Saved With Incorrect File Extension When Downloaded

When downloading .mp3 files using Internet Explorer or any other browser, the Save As dialog may add an incorrect file extension (.mp2 or .mpeg, instead of .mp3). Whenever this happens, you need to manually change the file extension to .mp3. (more…)
