Symptom

In the Windows XP Welcome screen, my wife's user ID no longer lists her unread email messages, but it lists mine. When you click on the number of messages link, my email address is shown. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Resolution

• Logon to the user account, which erroneously lists your email id
• Start Regedit.exe and navigate to the following branch:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail

(Each sub-key represents a mail account)

• Backup the branch to a REG file
• Select the subkey which represents your email ID, and delete it
• Close Regedit.exe
