Fixing the .BAT file association

Problem

When I double-click a .BAT file, all that happens is that a Command Prompt window opens up with the prompt showing the path to the .BAT file I tried to run. But the .bat file does not run.

How do I fix the problem?

Resolution

This problem occurs if the .BAT file associations have gone wrong.

Download the file attachment (batfile.reg) available at the bottom of this page and save to Desktop. Right-click the file, and choose Merge. The .BAT file association should now be fixed.
