Question

Answer

You can reset the Tool Box and Color Box placement (to defaults) using these steps:

  • Close all instances of Microsoft Paint
  • Click Start, Run and type regedit.exe
  • Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Applets \ Paint

  • Delete the sub-key named General-Summary
  • Exit the Registry Editor.

Alternately, you can accomplish the task using REG.EXE console tool.

Click Start, Run and type the following command:

reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Paint\General-Summary" /f

Open Microsoft Paint. The Tool Box and Color Box should now be visible.
